Sticking to your guns

A friend recently related to me some values and beliefs that others have found to be different or even called weird. My reaction to this is why are we so quick to judge others? Why do we always think only our way is the right way or the best way? As long as our beliefs and convictions keep Jesus at the center of our lives and focus, then why should we worry about what anyone else thinks? God knows our hearts and how our monds are wired. The only thing we must agree 100% on as being the only way, is the fact that no one can get to heaven by their own means or by good works. Jesus himself, not me or some preacher or teacher, said that He was the ONLY way to heaven! Call it narrow minded or tunnel vision, or old fashioned thinking if you want, however the Son of God said it himself. Everyone has sinned and falls short of perfection, which is required to entered heaven. We can only be made perfect and blameless by accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

I admit I admire my friend for staying true to and honoring the convictions place on their heart by God. It would be easy to just back down to fit in with the crowd, but God called Christians to be different and set apart. The world MUST see a difference in our lives and how we live them.

I'm also very thankful for people like this being placed in my path to remind me where priorities should lie.
