The Cost Is Still The Same

This past Thursday during our meeting of Ironmen, I made an offhand comment about an adventure after the upcoming South Africa trip. One of the guys stated he would rather watch shark diving on Discovery or possibly from the boat. I said it doesn't matter if you swim with the sharks or just stay on the boat, it still costs the same.
Now this can have two totally different meanings.
1) If you venture into the world and are involved in only seeking the pleasures of the world, you are just as guilty to long to be there as if you actually jump in and participate.
2) When living the life of a Christ follower you pay the same price whether you stay on the boat ( sit on the pews and be a Sunday Christian and watch the others do the work) or if you jump into the water with the sharks ( go out to a hurting and dying world and make a difference). In other words , you will face the same opposition and ridicule......so why not join in the adventure?
The old saying goes; "If you are going to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat".....they leave out the part about the ocean being filled with sharks LOL The sharks, sting rays, or other unknowns are nothing to fear as long as we keep our eyes on the one that calls us out of the boat (Jesus). Peter found out the hard way what happens once you look at the surroundings and not the master. WAIT, before you jump on Peter for losing faith, how many of the others actually got out of the boat? Don't forget, Peter actually DID walk on water....only a few steps, but he did what the others were afraid to attempt.
