Is the right choice the right choice?

I was talking with a group of friends, someone brought up an interesting topic. We were discussing people in the spotlight that profess to be christians. If an actor that has been well versed in the Hollywood scene accepts Christ, what happens to his career? If he refuses roles because of his conviction he will have three choices. 1) He can walk away from the set and probably never work again 2) He can only take roles that will not compromise his morals, yet the movie itself might not be appropriate for a christian to watch 3) He can take a huge cut in pay and only act in "Christian" movies. It's easy to say, sure you take the cut in pay and God will provide, unless you are the person taking the cut in pay. I know I would not be able to survive if my pay were to be cut in half.
The question arises, if we are christians then don't we face similar issues in the work place? Will we still get the promotion or raise from a wordly boss? Will our co-workers look down on us because we stand for what we feel is right? Will we be mocked for not laughing at the off color joke?

Personally I would rather have my co-workers think I'm strange or even ridicule than to hear Jesus say : "Depart from me , you working of iniquity, I never knew you"
As Jesus said, "You are either for me or against me". Sounds as if we have two choices to me.
I didn't say it, Jesus said it!

Sticking to your guns

A friend recently related to me some values and beliefs that others have found to be different or even called weird. My reaction to this is why are we so quick to judge others? Why do we always think only our way is the right way or the best way? As long as our beliefs and convictions keep Jesus at the center of our lives and focus, then why should we worry about what anyone else thinks? God knows our hearts and how our monds are wired. The only thing we must agree 100% on as being the only way, is the fact that no one can get to heaven by their own means or by good works. Jesus himself, not me or some preacher or teacher, said that He was the ONLY way to heaven! Call it narrow minded or tunnel vision, or old fashioned thinking if you want, however the Son of God said it himself. Everyone has sinned and falls short of perfection, which is required to entered heaven. We can only be made perfect and blameless by accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

I admit I admire my friend for staying true to and honoring the convictions place on their heart by God. It would be easy to just back down to fit in with the crowd, but God called Christians to be different and set apart. The world MUST see a difference in our lives and how we live them.

I'm also very thankful for people like this being placed in my path to remind me where priorities should lie.
